current love: brown transferware

9.20.2012

It's that time of the year where we become drawn to darker colors and moodier hues. As much as I like to change up my decor for the seasons, I'm usually content with keeping my all white dishes on display year round.  This year might be a little different.  I've been drawn to transferware as of late, especially brown transferware.  It creates the perfect fall pallette.  Here are some great images I found on Pinterest of my current love:

And because we, at D'Bohemia, are currently loving this for our own homes we can't help but share it with our customers.  We've got some great pieces of brown transferware in the shoppe including this lovely petite gravy boat and pitcher.

And all of this...

If you haven't been following along on Facebook then you may have missed the fantastic news we shared about becoming a vendor of Miss Mustard Seed's new milk paint line!

She is starting the line with 12 carefully selected colors reminiscent of her favorite vintage decorating elements with names like typewriter, ironstone, and french enamel, to name a few.

If you don't already stalk her blog, you may be wondering, who is this Miss Mustard Seed lady?

There she is!  In our eyes, Marion {a.k.a. Miss Mustard Seed} is the furniture painting guru!  We love her blog and her work!  We're honored to be a vendor of her milk paint line and to be able to share this amazing product with you.  Here are a few examples of pieces Miss Mustard Seed has painted with her milk paint...

A gorgeous secretary in Grain Sack ~ a light neutral gray.

Or how about this empire chest painted in Tricyle ~ the prettiest of reds!

Or if you're more of blue lover..

This dainty little sideboard was painted in Flow Blue.  Here's the back story to where she came up with the name:

"The name of the color come from the technique used in the 1800′s – early 1900′s to transfer blue patterns onto pottery.  Flow Blue dishes have a beautiful blurry look to them and are in a varrying shades of a rich blue…" -MMS

Ok, just one more. Here's a french provincial chest Amy painted in MMSMP's Ironstone color.

This one didn't last long...she's headed to a new home after only a few days in the shoppe.

If you've been eyeing up the painted pieces in the shoppe, but have the itch to try your hand at painting some of your old pieces of furniture, you'll love Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint.  Once it arrives in the store, we'll be on hand to answer any questions you might have about the products and MMS even offers video tutorials on her website for using the paint.

We have a feeling we're going to sell out of this shortly after it arrives, so if you would like to to place your pre-orders now we are offering a 10% discount on all orders through September 30th!

We're in love with our velvet pumpkins and our customers are too!  They were a hit this weekend and we only have a few left, but no worries, we have a bunch more headed our way!

Our September focal wall.

Great black chest/cabinet on cabriole legs, along with an authentic antique dough bowl, and custom made pillows for fall.

Gorgeous antique oak gate leg table with lovely transfer ware place settings.

This grey dresser found a new home this weekend as well as the farmhouse hutch peeking at you on the left.
